‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: Umm Salama told the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about a church that she had seen in Ethiopia that had sculptures. He said: "If any righteous pious man dies amongst them, they build a place of worship above his grave and place those sculptures. They are the most evil creatures in the sight of Allah."

شرح الحديث :

Umm Salamah described the sculptures of humans which she saw in the Christian church to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) while he was on his deathbed. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) clarified the reason why they made these sculptures, which is their extremist behavior in glorifying their righteous people. It led them to building places of worship upon their graves and placing sculptures inside these places of worship. Then the Prophet judged them to be the most evil of creation because they combined between two prohibited actions, taking graves as places of worship and glorying sculptures, that eventually lead to polytheism.
