Mu‘ādh ibn Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: ''Whoever eats food and says: 'Praise be to Allah who fed me and provided me with this food through no might or power on my part', his past sins will be forgiven.”

One should thank Allah, the Almighty, whenever he eats saying: ''Praise be to Allah who fed me and provided me with this food through no might or power on my part.'' The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) pointed out two ways whereby food is acquired. The strong person takes it enabled by his strength, and the weak person finds ways to get his sustenance. He pointed out, through the mentioned supplication, that the acquisition of food is only through Allah's munificence, with no human intervention.
