التعريف :
The honour a person claims by telling of the great deeds of his forebears.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
The established nobility of a person or his ancestors.
الشرح المختصر :
“Hasab” (noble lineage) is the honor and status established for a person or his ancestors. A person may acquire “hasab” by virtue of his noble manners and traits even if he is not of noble lineage. If he has both, then his status is more honorable.
التعريف اللغوي المختصر :
“Hasab”: nobility of a person or his forefathers. It is derived from "hisāb", which means counting. Other meanings: good traits and sublime characteristic.
