A person who used to be owned by another but was set free and became a free person.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
A person who has been freed from slavery after having been a slave.
الشرح المختصر :
"‘Ateeq" (freed slave) is a slave who has been freed by his master. This freedom gives him the legal power to remain free without being a slave for anyone else again. He thereby becomes eligible for testimony, guardianship, and other legal entitlements which he was ineligible for when he was a slave.
