Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever kills his slave, we will kill him, and whoever mutilates his slave, we will mutilate him."

شرح الحديث :

This Hadīth, if authentic, indicates that legal retribution applies to murder and mutilation. So anyone who kills another intentionally out of injustice and transgression is to be killed in return, even if he had killed his slave. Also, anyone who wreaks damage to a body part of another person, his similar body part is to be damaged as legal retribution. The majority of the scholars, however, agree that legal retribution is inapplicable in cases involving freemen and slaves, because they are not equal, and due to the weakness of this Hadīth.
