Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, benefit me with what You have taught me, and teach me that which will benefit me, and give me knowledge that will benefit me." Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "and increase me in knowledge, all praises be to Allah in every situation, and I seek refuge in Allah from the torment of Hellfire."

شرح الحديث :

This Hadīth indicates the virtue of supplicating Allah with these words which encompass the good of this life and the afterlife. The Prophet asked Allah to allow him to benefit from what He taught him by acting upon the knowledge that he was given. He also asked Allah to teach him the things that will benefit him in his religion as well as his worldly affairs. This is done by seeking only beneficial knowledge, and asking Allah for an increase in beneficial knowledge. Then he concluded the supplication with praise of Allah and describing Him with the most perfect attributes, while expressing love and glorification to Him. All praises are due to Allah in all situations, whether ease or hardship. Then he sought Allah's refuge from the bad situation of the people of the Hellfire such as disbelief and disobedience in this world, and the severe punishment in the Hereafter. It is ok to supplicate with the weak Hadīth narrated by Abu Hurayrah; because it is not contradicting other Authentic Hadīths and its meaning is correct
