Husayn ibn Wahwah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Talhah ibn al-Barā' ibn ‘Āzib (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill, so the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit him and said: "Verily, I think that Talhah is about to die. So inform me when he is dead and make haste (in burying him). Indeed, it is improper for the corpse of a Muslim to be kept lying unburied among his family members."

شرح الحديث :

Talhah ibn al-Barā' ibn ‘Āzib (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill, so the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit him during his illness. When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed them that he saw on him the signs of death, he ordered them to inform him of his death so that he could offer his funeral prayer. He added that when they were certain of his death, they should arrange for his funeral prayer and burial quickly, because it is not commendable for the corpse of a Muslim to remain with his family. The Muslim is a revered and honored being, and when his corpse began to decay and decompose, people might find it repugnant and treat it with a sort of disrespect. Therefore, it is a must to prepare the Muslim's funeral as soon as possible in order to keep his dignity intact.
