The principal debtor who is required to pay blood money, debt, or a physical object and who is under the suretyship of another person.
"Aseel" (principal debtor): "Kafālah" or "damān" (suretyship) is when a surety joins the principal debtor in the responsibility to deliver a debt or right so that both of them are responsible for paying it back. Suretyship comprises the following four elements: 1. A surety: who undertakes the payment of the debt or right. 2. A debtor: who is guaranteed and owes the right in question. 3. A creditor: who is the owner of the right. 4. A guaranteed object: which is the guaranteed right itself.
"Aseel": one who has "asl" (good family background). Other meanings: a person with a firm, sound intellect.
