من موسوعة المصطلحات الإسلامية

المعنى الاصطلاحي

Forcing someone to do or say something against his will by using threat and compulsion.

الشرح المختصر

"Ikrāh" (compulsion) means forcing someone to do something that he dislikes by threatening to kill or batter him or a similar threat. There are two types of "ikrāh": 1. "ikrāh mulji’" (complete duress): which leaves the coerced person without any choice or ability to bear the threat, such as being threatened to be killed or to lose a body organ. 2. "ikrāh ghayr mulji’" (incomplete duress): which is the threat to inflict what is less than killing or losing a body organ, such as the threat to be beaten up. This type generates dislike but it does not rid the person of his choice because he can still bear the threat (if it were implemented).

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"Ikrāh": forcing someone to do something that he dislikes. Derived from "kurh", which means dislike.
