"Ithbāt" (substantiation) is providing evidence to prove the truth of a claim before the judge in a court of law concerning a right or an incident. The plaintiff does so in order to obtain his right or prevent others from harming him. Evidence includes all means that the judicial authority accepts as proofs, like witnesses, strong presumptions, etc.
"Ithbāt": considering something constantly established or true. Opposite: "izālah" (removal). Other meanings: verification, authentication, substantiation.
