العلي
كلمة العليّ في اللغة هي صفة مشبهة من العلوّ، والصفة المشبهة تدل...
Allah does not facilitate acts of obedience for the slave, does not help him to perform them, and leaves him on his own.
"Khidhlān" (forsaking) is when Allah forsakes His slave, does not grant him success, and does not support him in acts of obedience. He leaves him to work on his own, does not make acts of worship easy for him, and does not reveal the beauty of worship to his heart. Moreover, Allah does not help His slave to abstain from sins. He does not keep him away from sins, does not keep them away from him, and does not reveal their ugliness to him. This interpretation is not at odds with Allah's perfect justice, nor with human free will.
"Khidhlān": stop supporting and helping. Original meaning: leaving something. Other meanings: discouraging, enervating; surrender, defeat, disappointment.
To deny someone success.
