(الْخِيَانَةُ)

من موسوعة المصطلحات الإسلامية

المعنى الاصطلاحي

Neglect of any of the commands of Allah, the Almighty, or committing any of His prohibitions by failing to fulfill the rights of Allah or to preserve what people entrusted him with.

الشرح المختصر

"Khiyaanah" (betrayal) is to neglect rights and fail to preserve trusts, whether this pertains to the rights of Allah, the Almighty, upon His slaves or the rights of people upon each other. Forms of "khiyaanah" include: violating the commands of Allah, secret breaching of covenant, failing to restore what one was entrusted with to its owner. Prophets, peace be upon them, are described as possessing truthfulness which runs counter to betrayal, lying, and hypocrisy. They could not have behaved treacherously, neither in words nor deeds. Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, even forbade winking because it is a form of betrayal. Undoubtedly, betrayal contradicts the divine message, for the words of a betrayer are not credible, given the possibility that he may betray the message entrusted to him and convey it wrongly. Hence, the Prophets, peace be upon them, are declared free of lying and infallible against betrayal.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"Khiyaanah": breach of covenant, negligence in keeping a trust and refraining from offering sincere advice regarding it. It is derived from "khawn" which means betraying trust; original meaning: diminishing.

التعريف
