التعريف :


A part of the land of Islam controlled by an armed group of Muslims who have rebelled against the Muslim ruler, with declared justification.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


A place to which people who have declared their disobedience to the ruler based on an incorrect interpretation of a Shariah text move once they overcome him.

الشرح المختصر :


"Dār al-Baghy" (territory of transgression) is a place within the "Dār al-Islam" (abode of Islam) to which a group of Muslims who possess strength and who have disobeyed the commands of the Imam due to a certain interpretation of texts which justifies their rebellion resort. They take refuge in this territory that has become under their control and appoint a leader on themselves to rule over them. They typically have their own army and have great strength and political power. "Dār" means a building, a place, or any open land which has no buildings. It also refers to any area which people reside in. "Bughāh" (transgressors) is a group of Muslims who break their obedience to the Muslim ruler thinking that they are on the correct path and that the ruler is upon falsehood. They do this due to a false interpretation of Islamic texts. It is a condition that they possess strength as well as a place wherein they reside and seek refuge from the ruler.
