The prize assigned for the winner of a race.
“Sabaq” (race prize/money) is the compensation or prize allocated by the ruler or someone else for the contestants in a certain competition, whether it is in kind (non-monetary) or immediate cash or deferred cash. The “sabaq” is given to the winner. The term originated from the practice of placing the prize at the upper end of a rod or the like at the finish line of a race, and whoever would reach it first would grab it.
“Sabaq”: the sum of money that race contestants compete for. It is derived from “sibaaq”, which means racing and hurrying to reach the target before the others.
