التعريف :


One of God’s attributes that are suited to him. A person may appeal to God by this attribute, as well as by his other attributes, for protection against all evil and harm.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


Whoever has the right of enforcement in a country's government.

الشرح المختصر :


"Sultān" (sultan/ruler) refers to any person who has a position in the administrative and ruling authority of a country. He has the right to use coercive force when needed to compel the people to implement the laws and judicial verdicts. This power is mostly specific to the supreme ruler, such as the Caliph or the Grand Imam.

"Sultān": ruler, governor. It is derived from the word "salātah", which means power, capability, and subjection. It is also used to refer to the Caliph, Imam, and judge.
