التعريف :


To pay full attention to something so as to master it and retain it fully.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


Hearing the speech in the proper manner, understanding its intended meaning, and then memorizing it and being committed to it.

الشرح المختصر :


Scholars stipulate "dabt" (precision) and proficiency in many issues related to Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), like giving testimony in the court, since "dabt" precludes falsification and lying, whether intended or unintended. A witness who remembers well and is attentive will give a sound testimony free from errors and the like.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :


"Dabt": adhering to something and not departing from it. Original meaning: to preserve something firmly. It can also mean strength and strictness. Opposite: "tafreet" (carelessness), "tadyee‘" (negligence), "‘ajz" (incompetence). Other meanings: care, seizure, restriction, specification.
