التعريف :


To permit doing something which has previously been forbidden.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


To declare permissibility for someone to do something from which he was prohibited under Shariah.

الشرح المختصر :


"Idhn" (permission) is declaring and announcing permissibility of doing something that is no longer prohibited, with regards to the one for whom it was prohibited under Shariah law. It is of two types: 1. A permission from the legislator (Allah), either with a text or through the ruler's personal reasoning, concerning issues of public interest, in compliance with the objectives of Shariah, such as the realization of benefit and the elimination of evil. 2. A permission from the proprietor allowing others to dispose of his property.

"Idhn": permission. Original meaning: to lift prohibition, to permit. Other meanings: declaration, from which comes the word "Adhān" (call to prayer).
