التعريف :


An effort a person does in the hope of achieving a benefit.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


Any word or deed that emanates from one's heart or organs intentionally.

الشرح المختصر :


"‘Amal" (deed) means producing words or deeds, whether they are acts of the heart, such as intention, or acts of the body, such as prayer. "‘Amal" is of two types: 1. Righteous "amal": is the apparent and hidden deed, including the acts of worship like fasting, prayer, Zakah, Hajj. "‘Amal" is not considered righteous unless two conditions are met: devotion of the "‘amal" sincerely to Allah Almighty, and compliance with the Sunnah of the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. This also includes lawful earnings. 2. Invalid "amal": that which misses one of the two conditions: sincerity and compliance, or that harms its doer in the worldly life.

"‘Amal": profession, craft, work. Original meaning: doing. It encompasses the deeds of the heart and organs. Other meanings: originating something.
