Expecting goodness and hoping for it.
"Fa’l" (good omen) is hope and good expectation. A person has hope in Allah and expects good from Him. If people have hope in their Lord, then they are upon goodness, because having hope in Allah is worship, and expecting goodness from Allah is also worship. Hearing a good word and naming with a beautiful name are included in the good "fa’l". In the good "fa’l", the heart is not attached to anything other than Allah; rather, therein lie happiness, the strength of the soul and its will power, and conformity with the innate human nature. Allah has placed the instinct to feel happiness and delight upon hearing a beautiful name in human beings. One must be optimistic in his life and reliant upon Allah in everything he faces. The good "fa’l" should be in what is apparently good and its occurrence is hoped for. For example, if one intends to travel and he hears a person say "how easy it is", he feels more comfortable about traveling. This word that he heard is not what pushed him to travel; rather, he was determined from the start, but when he heard this word, his optimism increased and he held good expectations of his Lord. The good "fa’l" is of two types: 1. Acquired good "fa’l", like when someone intends to get married or travel, so he goes out to hear speech from which he can understand that he should either proceed or abandon the idea. It also includes looking in the Qur’an for the same reason, and this is a kind of seeking a decision through divination. 2- Good "fa’l" that is not acquired, like when a sick person accidentally hears someone say "O Sālim" (sound and healthy) and thus hopes to be cured and expects it to happen. This is from the good "fa’l" that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, liked.
"Fa’l": goodness, blessing, good expectations, everything good that brings happiness and joy. Opposite: "tiyarah" (foreboding/bad omen), which is everything that brings evil and sadness.
Good thought. A person hears a good word and he applies it to its finest meaning.
