Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not turn your houses into graves. Indeed, Satan runs away from the house in which Sūrat al-Baqarah is recited."

شرح الحديث :

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade making houses like graveyards by failing to pray and recite the Qur’an therein. A house in which the prayer is not offered is labeled a grave because the latter is a place where the prayer is not permissible. Then, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that Satan runs away from the house whose dwellers recite Sūrat al-Baqarah, as he feels hopeless to mislead and allure them, due to the blessing of reciting this Sūrah and their compliance with its teachings.
