‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that a beggar passed by her so she gave him a piece of bread. Another man who wore garments and had an appearance of dignity passed by her so she sat him down and he ate. When she was asked about that, she replied: "The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Treat people according to their ranks.'" In another narration: "The Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to treat people according to their ranks."
This Hadīth relates a story that happened to our mother ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her): that two men passed by her so she gave the first one a piece of bread and the like of it; the second one was in a better position so she treated him with dignity and respect. ‘Ā’ishah was asked why she dealt with the two men differently and gave the first one a piece of bread and sat the second one down and fed him? She replied that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to treat people according to what is appropriate for their ranks and status in terms of righteousness, knowledge, and honor. This Hadīth is weak, yet it is Ok to consider what has been reported in this Hadīth, for it concerns manners [as opposed to laws and rulings].
