أذكار الدخول والخروج من المسجد
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque, he would say: "I seek refuge in Allah, the Majestic, and in His Noble Countenance, and in His eternal dominion, from the accursed devil." He said: "Is that all?" I said: 'Yes.' He said: "And when he says that, the devil says: "He is protected from me for the whole day."

When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque, he would say: "I seek refuge in Allah, the Majestic"; i.e. I hold firmly unto Allah, and I seek protection in Him Who is Majesty in Essence, Status, and Attributes. "And in His Noble Countenance"; noble here means the most generous who gives endlessly; the absolutely Noble, His Nobility includes all aspects of goodness, honor and virtues. It is also obligatory to affirm that Allah has a Countenance without distorting or changing the meaning, nor asking 'how' or drawing similarities. "And in His eternal dominion"; i.e. His eternal signs or His eternal Might. "From the accursed devil"; i.e. from the devil who is expelled from Allah's mercy and pelted with the burning flames of the sky. "He asked: Is that all?" I said: 'Yes'; i.e. the narrator who is higher up in the chain of narrators of this Hadīth (‘Uqbah ibn Muslim) asked the narrator who is lower in the chain (Haywah ibn Shurayh): Is this the only part that you heard of this Hadīth? Or it may mean: Is this sufficient to say apart from other supplications? Or is this enough to keep away the evil of Satan? That is why he (Haywah) said: "I said: 'Yes.' " 'He (‘Uqbah) said (that the rest of the narration is): "When anyone says so, the devil says: He is protected from me for the whole day."; i.e. if the person entering the mosque says this supplication, the devil will say: this person who is going in has protected himself from me all day by saying this supplication.
