التعريف :
To make something unusable to give the benefit or service it normally gives.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
Damaging something by totally destroying it or eliminating its usefulness by the action of an animal or something else.
الشرح المختصر :
"Itlāf" (causing damage) is of two types: 1. "Itlāf haqeeqi" (actual damage): which affects an object or a utility. 2. "Itlāf ma‘nawi" (moral damage): such as preventing the delivery of a borrowed item to its lender after he demands it from the borrower or after the expiry of the borrowing period. "Itlāf" occurs either directly, as in killing or burning, or by consequence, as in doing something in circumstances that would normally lead to damage, such as lighting a fire on a very windy day, thus leading to the spread of the fire to the property of others and damaging it.
