Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A blind man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have no one to lead me to the mosque." He asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) to allow him to pray at home, which the Messenger of Allah did. When the man was leaving, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) called him back and said: "Can you hear the Adhān?" He replied in the affirmative. Thereupon, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then respond to it."
A blind man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and told him that he was blind and had no one to help him and take him by the hand to the mosque, seeking a concession from the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) to abstain from offering the prayer in congregation. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) granted him a concession. However, when the man was departing, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) called him and asked whether he could hear the Adhān. As the man replied in the affirmative, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commanded him to respond to the call to prayer.
