Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: ''On each joint of humans there is a charity every day on which the sun rises: doing justice between two persons is a charity; helping someone with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting his belongings onto it, is a charity; and a good word is a charity; and every step you take towards the prayer (congregation prayer) is a charity, and removing harmful objects from the way is a charity.''
For every new day, charity has to be given for each of the three hundred and sixty joints in the human body. The examples of charity mentioned could be done by action or words, and benefiting the doer or others. The examples are not meant to be exhaustive. Justice can be done between two people through a judgment or settlement of a conflict; which is a verbal practice that is beneficial for others. Assisting someone to ride their mount or loading their luggage on it is an action that is beneficial for others. Saying a good word can be both beneficial for the doer and for others; for the doer as in reading Qur'an, remembering Allah, and supplicating to Him, and for others as in teaching them, enjoining the right, forbidding the evil, etc. Each step one takes towards prayer is an act of charity which is a beneficial act for the doer, while removing harmful objects, such as thorns, stones, and glass from the people's way is an action that is beneficial for others.
