الحافظ
الحفظُ في اللغة هو مراعاةُ الشيء، والاعتناءُ به، و(الحافظ) اسمٌ...
Ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "May Allah grant beauty to the one who hears something from us and communicates it exactly as he heard it, for perhaps the one to whom it is conveyed understands it better than the one who heard it."
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated Allah to grant the one, who listens to a Hadīth from him and conveys it to others exactly as he heard it without any addition or omission, a beautiful face on the Day of Judgment. He justified this by saying that the recipient may have a better understanding than the one who heard it first. One may hear a Hadīth and communicate it to someone else who has a better understanding and is more active in practicing it than himself. Typically as the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: you may find a scholar who memorizes Hadīths and relates them to others, yet he does not understand their meaning. He then conveys them to another scholar who understands their meanings and deduce various rulings from them that benefit people in their life.
