المعنى الاصطلاحي

Delaying performing the Zhuhr prayer from the beginning of its due time to its last time during extreme heat.

الشرح المختصر

"Ibrād" (delaying until coolness) is a concession given to Muslims to alleviate hardship from them when the weather is extremely hot. They are permitted to delay the Zhuhr prayer until the weather becomes a little cooler, regardless of whether air conditioners are available or not. Coolness, here, means: 1. A decrease in temperature and the appearance of the shadows of walls and the like so that one can seek shade in them. 2. The approach of the time of the ‘Asr prayer so that the people set out once to perform the two prayers (the Zhuhr and then the ‘Asr). By doing so, the people will avoid being exposed to the extreme heat twice.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"Ibrād": entering a cold time or a cold place. "Bard": cold weather; opposite: "harr" (hot weather). Other meanings: the abatement of extreme heat at the end of the hot time of the day.

التعريف

To delay the Ẓuhr prayer until the midday heat goes down.
