المعنى الاصطلاحي

The register wherein the judge records judicial verdicts and relevant information.

الشرح المختصر

"Sijill" (record/register/logbook) is the book wherein judicial verdicts issued by the judge are recorded and sealed with the judge’s seal after he issues the verdict based on evidence or confession, or court abstention; all clearly transcribed. Other important information that needs to be saved is also written therein, such as case proceedings, the supportive evidence for each case, and minutes of court hearings. The "sijillaat" (sing. "sijill") are important documents overseen by specialized experts. They are of many benefits in the judicial field, at the forefront of which are preserving people’s rights against loss and preserving memory of incidents against the passage of time. The "sijillaat" are written in common terminology with extreme accuracy and detail. The names of the litigants and witnesses and their addresses are recorded, as well as the subject matter of each case, the verbatim testimony of the witnesses, the verdict, grounds of judgment, evidence, the name of the judge and his seal, the name of the court, and the record date. Then the "sijillaat" are archived in a manner that makes them easily retrievable.
