المعنى الاصطلاحي

Something supernatural that is not paired with a challenge or a claim of prophethood which Allah makes occur by His righteous slaves.

الشرح المختصر

"Karaamah" (supernatural abilities) is something supernatural that is not paired with a claim of prophethood, nor is it an introduction to such a claim. It occurs through a slave who has a righteous appearance accompanied by a sound creed and righteous actions. What is intended here by ‘something supernatural’ is something that goes against the norm and the natural laws of the universe, such as walking on water. There are two conditions for the "karaamah": 1. It has to take place through an upright believer who follows the Sunnah. 2. It does not include anything that contradicts the Qur'an and the Sunnah "Karaamah" is divided into two types: 1. Physical "karaamah", such as walking on water or flying in the air. 2. Spiritual "karaamah", such as acquiring some forms of knowledge and the like.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"Karaamah": honor, glory. It is derived from "karam", which means generosity and abundant goodness. Opposite: "bughl" (stinginess). Other meanings: nobility, virtue, glorification.
