Firm belief in what has been mentioned in the Qur'an and Sunnah about the existence of the Scale, which has specific characteristics, by which deeds, books, and people will be weighed on the Day of Judgment.
Belief in the Scale is part of the belief in the unseen and the Last Day that Allah informed us about in His Book and His Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, informed us about in his Sunnah. It is the firm belief and acknowledgment that Allah will establish a real scale on the Day of Judgment to show the weight of the deeds of people whom He will hold accountable for such deeds. Thus deeds, books, and people themselves will be weighed on that Scale. This Scale has special characteristics, some of which are: 1. It is a scale of justice and fairness. 2. Every scale has a tongue and two real physical pans of balance that can be seen. The good deeds are placed on one side and the bad deeds on the other. In case one's good deeds outweigh his bad deeds, he will succeed and enter Paradise, and in case one's bad deeds outweigh his good deeds, he will be susceptible to Allah’s punishment. Finally, in case one's good deeds and bad deeds are equal, he will be from the people of "A`raaf" who will be held back on the Bridge. 3. The Scale is described with heaviness at times and lightness at other times, according to the deeds of the slave. Whatever is heavy will go down and whatever is light will go up. From the benefits of belief in the Scale: 1. Knowledge Allah’s wisdom and His perfect justice. 2. Keenness on earning good deeds even if they are small and avoiding bad deeds even if they are small. 3. Fulfilment of belief in the unseen and the Last Day as Allah and His Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, ordered.
