Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that she asked the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): "Can a woman pray while wearing a robe and a veil without a lower garment?" He said: "If the robe is long enough to cover the surface of her feet."

شرح الحديث :

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked if it is permissible for a woman to pray in one garment and a head covering without wearing a lower garment. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the robe is long enough to cover the surface of her feet," meaning that it is alright on the condition that the garment that she is wearing is long enough and covers her entire body from top to bottom, including the feet. Based on this, if a woman covers her feet with her loose garment and covers her head, hair, and neck with her head covering, she has covered that which is required to be concealed during the prayer, even if she is not wearing a lower garment or pants under the loose garment, although the best and most complete is for her to wear three garments: a loose garment, a head covering, and a lower garment. Regarding the face, it is permissible to reveal it during the prayer since there is no evidence that she has to cover it when no foreign man can see her, so this is what is required to be concealed during the prayer. Regarding the look of the foreign men, then all of her (body) must be covered. The Hadīth is weak; nevertheless, the speech of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) has been authentically narrated on her authority.
